Genetic parameters of blood urea nitrogen and milk urea nitrogen concentration in dairy cattle managed in pasture-based production systems of New Zealand and Australia

چکیده

Context Urinary nitrogen excretion by grazing cattle causes environmental pollution. Selecting for cows with a lower concentration of urinary may reduce the impact. While is difficult to measure, blood urea (BUN), mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIR)-predicted BUN (MBUN), which predicted from MIR spectra measured on milk samples, and (MUN) are potential indicator traits. Australia New Zealand have increasing datasets records, 18 120 15 754 records in respectively. A collaboration between could further increase size dataset sharing data. Relationship between bulk milk urea nitrogen and reproductive performance of New Zealand dairy herds

New Zealand dairy cows grazing lush spring pasture have relatively high plasma urea nitrogen levels as a consequence of the high soluble crude protein content of this rapidly growing pasture. The elevated plasma urea levels have been implicated as a cause of poor reproductive performance in dairy herds. The aim of this trial was to determine if the bulk milk urea nitrogen levels (BMUNs) collect...

Effect of Milk Urea Nitrogen of Dairy Cows in Relation to Breed

Milk urea nitrogen (MUN) of dairy cows was determined in relation to breed. A total of forty (40) Pabna and red Chittagong dairy cattle each of twenty (20) were selected to know the milk composition, nutritional status and milk urea nitrogen. Live weight of Pabna Cattle (187±14 kg) was higher than that of red Chittagong cattle (174±4 kg). In Pabna cattle milk yield (4.94 kg), minerals (0.15%) a...

Plasma and milk urea nitrogen in relation to pregnancy rate in lactating dairy cattle.

The objectives of this study were to relate concentrations of plasma (PUN) and milk (MUN) urea nitrogen to pregnancy rate in dairy cows and compare various methods of analysis and preparation of milk for measuring MUN. In two experiments, blood or milk samples were collected on the day of AI from Holstein cows (n = 160 and n = 155, respectively). Three methods of MUN analysis were compared. Two...

Blood Urea Nitrogen

Loop diuretics are used in patients with heart failure (HF) to relieve symptoms of systemic and pulmonary venous congestion. Despite their nearly universal use for this indication, loop diuretics have not been shown to improve survival—indeed, a number of recent studies suggest an adverse relationship between the use of loop diuretics and survival (1–3). This is plausible because loop diuretics...
